The National Library of Foreign Literature (OIK) and the French Institute established a strategic partnership at their meeting on 13th March 2025. The aim of the meeting was to prepare for a future cooperation agreement that would promote joint cultural projects and programmes.
On 13th March 2025 Matthieu Berton, Director of the French Institute, Sophie Sellier, Cultural Attaché, and Takács-Licskó Beáta, librarian at the French Institute, were hosted at the National Library of Foreign Literature (OIK). The main objective of the visit was for OIK and the French Institute to discuss the possibilities for cultural cooperation.
Representing OIK István Horváth, Director of OIK, Alexandra Pancsosz, Head of the Ethnic Document Supply Department, and Gáborné Sáska, Collection Organizer Librarian took part in the meeting. The event was also attended by Zoltán Lewalt-Jezierski, Head of the Director General's Cabinet at the National Széchényi Library (MNMKK OSZK), and Sarolt Bognár, International Affairs Officer at MNMKK OSZK.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a joint declaration of intent, laying the foundation for long-term cooperation between the two institutions. The cooperation agreement would create opportunities for organizing joint exhibitions, arranging literary translation grants, and it would enable OIK to actively participate in the 2026 Francophonie Days program series.
Through this partnership, both institutions aim to expand their cultural offerings and reach a wider audience with a special focus on promoting the French language and culture.
