How to approach the Library during the 24th Buda Castle Wine Festival?

The 24th Buda Castle Wine Festival, Wine Exhibition and Fair will be held between September 9 and 13, 2015 on the terraces and courtyards of Buda Castle (East Terrace, West Terrace, Lion Courtyard and Hunyadi Courtyard).  You can approach the main entrance of National Széchényi Library by presenting your Reader Pass, or if you are not a registered reader of the Library, or wish to visit NSZL for any other reason, the staff of the Wine Festival will guide you to the main entrance of the Library.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused!

The Library will be open on September 22, 2015!

We would like to inform you that, as opposed to the extraordinary closure of the Library on Tuesday September 22, 2015, scheduled previously due to technical reasons, on the above date National Széchényi Library will be open during its usual opening hours, i.e. between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

In honor of her outstanding performance carried out in the field of library science, Dr. Szilvia Bánfi-Szilágyi, research fellow of National Széchényi Library was given József Szinnyei Award on the occasion of Hungarian National Day August 20. The awarding ceremony took place in Pesti Vigadó.

Hungarian Language and Book Festival in Buda Castle

Hungarian Language and Book Festival will be held this year, too in Szentháromság Square in Buda Castle. Organizers of the festival are looking forward to meeting visitors who are fond of literature and culture.

The event, lasting for three days, features Csángóföld as its guest of honor. Hostess and host of the event will be Bea Lukács and Szilárd Nyakas, our colleagues in National Széchényi Library.

Winners of the Janus Pannonius Grand Prize for Poetry in NSZL

Charles BernsteinThis year’s winners of the Janus Pannonius Grand Prize for Poetry, Charles Bernstein from the US and Italian poet Giuseppe Conte will read out from their poems in the Ceremonial Hall of National Széchényi Library on August 29, 2015, at 7 p.m.

New opening hours in the Library as of September 1

We would like to inform you that the opening hours of National Széchényi Library will be changed as of September 1, 2015. We are waiting for our visitors in the Library Tuesday to Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
