Every year National Széchényi Library greets the birthday of Hungary’s major national relic by prestigious events and also by an Open Day for its visitors. This year our programs will focus on three important events.

The Hymn in Lenti

Aiming at creating a tradition, National Széchényi Library will exhibit one of the most precious treasures of the Hungarian nation, the original manuscript of Hymnus (Hymn) written by Ferenc Kölcsey, in a rural town for the second time.

Meeting a request of the town of Lenti, the Hungarian national library agreed to present this unique literary relic to people living in Lenti and its surroundings. The original manuscript will be on display in the City Cultural Centre of Lenti on Friday January 22 and Saturday January 23, 2016, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. To celebrate the National Day of Hungarian Culture, the centre will offer a host of programs, including lectures related to the Hymn, to its visitors.
