Meeting a request of heirs, we created and launched a website dedicated to the memory of librarian Tibor Horváth.

Tibor Horváth is best known as a professor, brilliant lecturer and one of the editors of Könyvtárosok kézikönyve (Manual of Librarians). Students and colleagues learned from him in National Széchényi Library, at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Kossuth Lajos University of Debrecen, Eszterházy Károly College of Eger and at Pázmány Péter Catholic University. The magic of his lectures originated from his being both a broad-minded professor of European education and a practical, storytelling expert. He did a lot for the academic acknowledgement of library science, and had been a professor of the PhD school accredited at ELTE University right from the start.

The website presents photos provided by the family, the lifetime achievement interview made with Tibor Horváth, a detailed biography, Horváth’s personal memories related to the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, letters written during his professional visits to Western Europe and the United States in 1972, recollections of his colleagues, and a list of works by Tibor Horváth.

You can visit the site (published in Hungarian) here: http://horvathtibor.oszk.hu/
