Tigran Zargaryan, Director-General of the National Library of Armenia accepted our invitation and arrived in NSZL on March 25, 2015. He was received by Director-General Dr. László Tüske and Director of Research and Academic Affairs Dr. László Boka. Head of the National Library of Armenia visited the exhibition entitled “The tragedy of the Armenian people in World War I”. Professional support for the exhibition was provided by the National Library of Armenia.
After visiting the exhibition, Tigran Zargaryan and Dr. László Tüske exchanged views about current issues of the library profession. The two directors agreed that opportunities provided by digitization are of primary importance both for the Hungarian and the Armenian national libraries. As a result of the talks, a bilateral agreement between the two national libraries was signed with the aim of mutually helping each other’s work in the future. Based on this agreement, National Széchényi Library and the National Library of Armenia will share their know-how and expertise concerning digitization, they will cooperate in tender projects, exchange publications and both libraries will pay special attention to the joint maintenance of relevant bibliographic databases. On top of that, in line with their existing scientific and research plans, NSZL and the National Library of Armenia will work out a detailed professional cooperation program.
The current agreement is valid for three years and it will automatically be prolonged, unless the parties decide otherwise.
