December and Holiday Opening Hours

 

We kindly inform our readers and visitors that our opening hours and services will change during the holiday period as outlined below.

 

OPENING HOURS
Saturday, 13th December 2025

 

 

General Collection Reading Rooms:
9:00–19:00 (submission of requests from library storage until 17:00)

Special Collections Reading Room:
9:00–19:00 (requests for special collection documents must be submitted by 13:00 on Friday)

Historical Photography and Interview Collection Reading Room (Chapel Space):
10:00–17:00

Library of Book History, Library and Information Science:
10:00–17:00

Esszencia Exhibition: 10:00–18:00,
Tamás Féner Photo Exhibition: 10:00–17:00

Bookshop: 10:00–17:00

 

 

Processing of copy requests submitted online will be suspended from 7th December 2025 to 12th January 2026. During this period, document preparation services will be available via the self-service scanners located in the reading rooms.

 

We inform our partners that the Legal Deposit and Publication Identifier Management Department will be closed between 20th December 2025 and 4th January 2026. During this time, we will not accept legal deposit copies, and the allocation of international publication identifiers (ISBN, ISMN, and ISSN) will also be suspended.

 

You are very welcome to our Advent fair with a discount of 50–80% in our book and souvenir shop until 20th December.
Please note that on 19th and 20th December, only card payments are accepted in the library. Thank you for your understanding.

 

 

The National Library of Foreign Literature will reopen on Monday, 5th January 2026,
and the National Széchényi Library on Tuesday, 6th January,
from 10:00, according to our usual opening hours.
