Flóris Rómer Memorial Conference in Oradea

In 2015, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Flóris Rómer, a major figure of 19th-century scholarship, so UNESCO declared 2015 to be a Flóris Rómer Memorial Year.

As part of a series of year-round memorial events, on October 17, 2015 the Oradea Roman Catholic Bishop Palace organized a conference in the ceremonial hall of the episcopate to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Flóris Rómer, Canon of Nagyvárad. Edina Zsupán, Scientific Secretary of National Széchényi Library also took part in the memorial conference.

Before lectures started, a traveling exhibition presenting the oeuvre of Flóris Rómer was opened. The exhibition will be open until November 5, 2015 and it can be attended free of charge. At the same time, a publication edited by Attila Lakatos-Balla and Tünde Balla, entitled “We raise the cultural vocation of Bihar County like men do…”, was also presented.
