Kazakh delegation received by the National Library

On 17th June 2025 the official delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hungary visited the MNMKK National Széchényi Library, where discussions were held with the Hungarian side regarding opportunities for cultural and scientific cooperation. 

The delegation was welcomed by Judit Gerencsér, Deputy General Director of the MNMKK OSZK. The visit was attended by Marat Askarov, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hungary, as well as three representatives from the Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies: Director General Duken Mesimkhanuli, Bolatbek Batirkhan, Head of the Department for Central Asia and the Middle East, and Nurtas Abdimomunov, Research Project Coordinator.  

 

During the first part of the meeting, Judit Gerencsér gave a presentation outlining the history of the national library, which dates back more than 200 years.
She introduced the circumstances of its foundation, innovations, international cooperation opportunities, and the 21st-century mission of the library, which focuses on the exploration, preservation, and enrichment of the Hungarian cultural heritage.

In the second part of the meeting, the parties reviewed the prospects for future collaboration between the National Library and the Suleimenov Institute of Oriental Studies. The discussions emphasized the importance of establishing a long-term, institutionalized partnership to promote cultural and scientific cooperation. They also discussed the launch of joint research projects, and ways in which the two institutions could contribute to each other’s professional work through exhibitions, conferences, and publication opportunities.
