On 19th May 2025 Kosovo's Ambassador to Hungary, Delfin Pllana, paid an official visit to the National Library to discuss the possibilities of cultural cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Judit Gerencsér, Deputy Director General of the MNMKK OSZK, and Zoltán Lewalt-Jezierski, Head of the Director General's Cabinet. In the first part of the meeting Judit Gerencsér gave a detailed presentation on the more than 200-year-long history of the National Library, the circumstances of its foundation and its mission in preserving and enriching the Hungarian cultural heritage.

During the meeting the parties reviewed, among other things, the possibilities for building relations between the national libraries and they held preliminary discussions on the preparation of a bilateral cooperation agreement. The aim is to deepen the professional and cultural partnership between the MNMKK OSZK and the National Library of Kosovo. Signing the document will enable the two institutions to strengthen their cultural and scientific relations in the long term, facilitating the exchange of information, the organisation of joint programmes, exhibitions and scientific projects.

One of the key topics of the meeting was the organisation of a possible book exhibition, which could be presented by the national library with the cooperation of the Kosovo embassy. Both sides agreed that this type of event could serve as an important tool for cultural diplomacy, as it would not only help to promote the cultural heritage of both countries, but can also foster a dialogue with a broader audience. Discussions on the details of the exhibition will continue in the coming period.

The visit took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere and both sides expressed their commitment to deepen cultural relations. Ambassador Delfin Pllana thanked for the warm welcome and expressed hope that the dialogue that has just begun will soon be translated into joint projects.
