Traffic restrictions on 28 April 2023

According to the police, there will be temporary closures, road closures and traffic restrictions in the I. district on Friday, April 28, between 8 am and 1 pm, due to the visit of Pope Francis to Hungary.

On this day, the NSZL will be accessible from 8 am to 1 pm:

  • by elevator from the Palota Road and the Tickler’s Courtyard,
  • accessible on foot from the eastern entrance.

Between 8 am and 13 pm, BKK services will be suspended at Dísz Square.

The Castle Hill Funicular is closed for maintenance this week (until Friday 28 April).

The following sections will be closed to pedestrians and traffic:

  • the Dísz Square from the Tárnok Street gate towards the Palace District,
  • the section of Tóth Árpád Promenade from Dísz Square to Móra Ferenc Street,
  • Szent György Street to the crossing of Hunyadi Courtyard,
  • Szent György Square,
  • Fountain of the Fishing Children.

It will not be possible to enter the Baroque Gate from the Savoy Terrace.

Cars and private vehicles are expected to be parked in the Hunyadi Courtyard and the Lions' Courtyard.

At the Palota Road and Hunyadi Road barriers, the police will not allow traffic to pass, and at the Tárnok Street barriers, they will turn back the cars.
