On 24th July 2025 an official delegation from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) visited the National Széchényi Library (NSZL) of the Hungarian National Museum Public Collection Centre (MNMKK), where they discussed possibilities for future cooperation with the Hungarian side. The aim of the meeting was to lay the foundations for long-term, institutionalized cultural and scientific relations.

The Turkish delegation was led by Fatih Yoldaş, TİKA’s coordinator. The guests were received by Dávid Rózsa, Director General of MNMKK NSZL, and Judit Gerencsér, Deputy Director General of MNMKK NSZL.

TİKA is the official development assistance agency of the Republic of Turkey, operating under the supervision of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The agency maintains 63 programme coordination offices in 61 countries and is active in 150 countries worldwide. TİKA supports both governmental and civil society organizations in areas such as healthcare, culture, education, social affairs, youth, and agriculture.

In Hungary, TİKA opened its office in 2014 and has implemented more than 120 projects over the past decade. Its most prominent project to date in Hungary has been the full renovation of the Gül Baba türbe in Budapest, which has become a symbolic event in Turkish–Hungarian historical and cultural relations.

According to both parties, the consultations initiated during this visit may soon develop into specific joint programmes and projects.
