A volume of essays entitled Ha szabad így mondanom (If I May Say So) by András Udvarhelyi will be presented in the Ceremonial Hall of NSZL on September 22, 2016. The book is about György Faludy’s lovers, friends and roles.

NSZL will take part in the 8th Library Day to be held on September 13 and September 15, 2016. The event, to be held at two locations this year, will help university and college students get acquainted with major libraries, publishing houses and archives related to their studies and research work.

The exhibition presents a selection from the treasures of Gyula Todoreszku’s library, which can rarely be seen, presenting at the same time their history, while selecting from documents related to the fate of the collection and from furnishings donated together with the library.

Our library is facing yet another renewal including the total reconstruction of its present building. During reconstruction, some of the original interiors of the building will be restored. However, the harmonization of the two functions will be a major challenge. Is it possible for a modern 21st-century library to operate in a historical environment? – Walk though the library spaces on September 17!

As a final phase of computer network development in National Széchényi Library, our old central network devices will be replaced by new ones. Due to the replacement, our internet services will not be available on Sunday September 11, 2016.

Our exhibition commemorating the 120th anniversary of the Hungarian National Millennium Exhibition of 1896 will be open at a new location, Angyalföld on the Pest side, between September 1 and October 9, 2016.

Just like in previous years, NSZL will take part in the Hungarian Language and Book Festival to be held between September 2 -4, 2016 in Szentháromság Square. We are waiting for you and your friends with a book sales pavilion and a stage book presentation in Szentháromság Square, and with lots of other programs in the Library building.

A volume of studies entitled „Nekünk mégis Mohács kell…” II. Lajos király rejtélyes halála és különböző temetései (“We Still Need Mohács…” The Mysterious Death and Various Burials of King Louis II), published jointly by the Research Centre for the Humanities of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and National Széchényi Library, will be presented in Budapest History Museum on August 29, 2016, on the on the 490th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács.
