On Friday, 25 August 2023, an international conference was held in Lendva (Lendava, Slovenia) to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the publication of the first book printed in Hungarian in the historic Hungarian town.

The scientific conference held at the Town Hall of Lendava was opened by Dávid Rózsa, Director General, and then Bernadett Varga, Head of Department, represented the national library. In her speech, she spoke about the three 16th century books printed by György Kultsár in Lendava 450 years ago, which are on display at the conference thanks to the NSZL. Besides the age of the volumes, they are unique in that only one copy of two of them has survived.

At the conference, Dávid Rózsa had a discussion with Viljem Leban, director of the National and University Library of Slovenia, Judit Zágorec-Csuka, director of the Library and Cultural Centre of Lendava and János Magyar, mayor of Lendava.

The festive event was rounded off by an exhibition open to the public, to which the documents on loan from the national library were transferred. The exhibition, which opened on 26 August 2023 in the Museum of Bourgeoisie of Lendava, is entitled: 450th anniversary of the first printed book in the territory of present-day Slovenia and the historical county of Zala.
The opening ceremony was attended by Gyöngyvér Péterfi, the conservator of our library, the supervisor of the volumes (accompanying and supervising the exhibition), Dr. Bernadett Varga, Head of the Early Printed Book Collection and Dávid Rózsa, Director General of the Library.
