On November 5, Minister of Human Resources Miklós Kasler opened the unique exhibition entitled The Corvina Library and the Buda Workshop, which will be open for three months as of November 6, 2018.

NSZL’s new internet service allows its users to fully overview fifty-five corvinas kept in Hungary and nine corvinas owned by Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel. Bibliographies, descriptions of book bindings, and several curiosities can also be accessed on the Hungarian and English language website.

The 8th World Congress of Hungarian Librarians will be held on November 6 and 7, 2018. The slogan for this year’s program is the following: European Culture – National Heritage. Venue of the second day of the world meeting will be National Széchényi Library.
The exhibition opening on November 6, 2018 aims at exploring a so far hidden, less emphasized aspect of King Matthias Hunyadi’s library. In addition to the codices ordered from Italy, similarly precious and decorative manuscripts were made in the royal court as well. The aim of the exhibition is to explore and present the systematic and grandiose endeavor, serving the formation of the royal library in the court of Buda.

Dr. László Tüske, Director-General of National Széchényi Library took part in the work of the 3rd World Congress of Reading where he delivered a lecture on digital literacy in Hungary.

Director-General of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco Abdelilah Tahani visited National Széchényi Library on September 5, 2018.
The history of Hungarian caricatures started in 1848 with the launch of Charivari Dongó, the first Hungarian satirical magazine. In 2018, the Group of Hungarian Caricaturists will celebrate a double anniversary in NSZL: the 170th anniversary of Charivari Dongó and the150th of Borsszem Jankó. The pop-up exhibition will be set up jointly by CAFé Budapest and National Széchényi Library.
