Volumes of the book series published jointly with Kriterion Publishing House will hopefully contain all the available works written by Aladár Kuncz including even his correspondence, which was published only once, more than three decades ago. Every volume comes complete with an accompanying study and an apparatus of critical notes...

On its Bolyai Day, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) awarded memorial certificates, in recognition of outstanding research work, to 74 out of the 162 researchers whose Bolyai Scholarship ended last year. László Lovász, President of MTA handed over Bolyai Plaquettes to the 15 most eminent researchers including Balázs Mikusi, head of NSZL’s Music Collection. Congratulations to our colleague!

City maps from the collection of Count Ferenc Széchényi  – We keep on presenting Count Ferenc Széchényi’s map collection which contains several thousand items. Out of the uniquely rich, 16th to 19th-century collection, we have selected from the Library founder’s city maps for the current exhibition. The maps will be on display until October 10, 2015.

On July 10, 2015, Civic Epistemologies will hold a one-day workshop for civil organizations and private individuals. Topic of the workshop will be volunteering in scientific/library work, volunteer help provided to cultural institutions. Several projects of the kind will be presented. You are very welcome at the event to be held in English.

National Széchényi Library cordially invites you and your family to the opening ceremony of its exhibition entitled “Atmospheres – Paintings of Hajnalka Siska-Szabó”. The event will take place on Tuesday June 16, 2015, at 4 p.m.

“Picture the Great War”, an album published by NSZL, won an award at Festive Book Week 2015. Our volume, commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of World War I, presents special, until now unknown pictures of the war. Over 600 images have been selected from our collection comprising tens of thousands of items, mainly period depictions of both battles and hinterland.

Hungarian literary antiques. Antiquitates literaturae Hungaricae, a volume by Miklós Révai will be presented in the Boardroom of NSZL on June 11, 2015 by literary historian István Margócsy. This work was originally published in Latin in 1803, and it had a major influence on 19th-century Hungarian linguistics. Now the book is available in Hungarian too.
