National Széchényi Library is preparing for the Day of Hungarian Culture with the original manuscript of the Hymn and the related Erkel sheet music, a chamber exhibition on Ady, a writer workshop and the presentation ceremony of an illustrated album.
Do we, can we follow and understand Ady’s poetic style? On January 22, there will be a dialog between and meeting of classical, modern and contemporary poetry in the Hungarian national library. The writer workshop led by Krisztina Rita Molnár, poet, writer and teacher will show whether today's young people are inspired by Endre Ady’s poetry or not. Art historian Zoltán Rockenbauer will deliver a lecture on Ady’s stay in Paris. Entitled “A bad wagon runs with me…” – ADY100, there will be a chamber exhibition to commemorate Hungarian poet Endre Ady. The exhibition will present Ady manuscripts, photographs, object relics, signed volumes, autobiographies and first editions.
On the Day of Hungarian Culture, an illustrated album entitled ”Someone was on the move …” (NSZL–MMA Publishing House) will be presented. Editors of the book pay tribute to the poet giant, who died 100 years ago. After the presentation of the book, there will be a professional roundtable discussion.
The original manuscript of Hymnus (Hymn), the national anthem of Hungary, and the related Erkel sheet music are on display only on special occasions such as January 22. The general public can have a look at them again in National Széchényi Library on the Day of Hungarian Culture, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. On this day, the national library also awaits its visitors with a 50-percent discount from the annual registration fee.
