Research putting the history of Ottoman occupation following the Battle of Mohács into a new light will be presented by the May lecture of Season 4 of the lecture series entitled “Orientalists in NSZL”. Next presenter of the cultural historical series featuring internationally renowned Hungarian researchers into the East will be Géza Dávid, historian-Turcologist, Professor of Eötvös Loránd University.

Book III/1. of The History of the Transylvanian Unitary Church focuses on the persecution endured by the Kolozsvár (Cluj) Unitarian congregation, the annexation of their parishes, schools and churches, on the deprivation of the state office of the Unitarians, and the crippling of the Torda, Hévíz, Kál, Gálfalva, Szentháromság and Sinfalva congregations lasting for decades. The presentation ceremony will start at 16.30 on May 9, 2019 in NSZL.

Author of the book Dániel Molnár and Ildikó Sirató, Head of NSZL’s Theater History Collection will discuss topics such as the nature, operation, or inability to operate and disdain of show business, socialist revues, actors, dancers, artistes, snoopers, cultural policy, censorship and naked women – in the 1950s.

You are cordially invited to the opening ceremony of the interactive exhibition entitled Memories’89 – At the Border of a New Era, which focuses on memories of the change in political regime. The ceremony will start at 11 a.m. on Friday April 26, 2019 in the Manuscriptorium Exhibition Space of NSZL’s Manuscript Collection.
An interactive photo exhibition of personal memories of the change in political regime will be opened in NSZL.
