Márton Szepsi Csombor is the author of the first Hungarian-language travel guide that was published at the beginning of the 17th century in Kassa. The most interesting figure of late Humanist literature, the traveling educator who presents several countries of Europe in this bulky but pocketable book (another Hungarian invention!), was not favored by fate, as he lived only 27 years. The entire title of the work, according to the custom of the time is: ["Evropica Varietas, or Marton Szepsi Czombor’s brief description of his travels to the lands of Poland, Mazur, Pruss, Denmark, Frisia, Holland, Zeland, England, Gallia, Germany, Czech, and back through Prussia, Pomerania, Suecia, Norway, Frisia, Zeland, and the sea of Britannia"]. It is a travelogue enjoyable also for the readers of today about the geography, history, towns, monuments and customs of the diverse lands of Europe.
