In Plural – exhibition in Székesfehérvár

An exhibition entitled “In Plural – Everyday Life of World War I and the Reality of Wartime Days” will be opened in Székesfehérvár at 5 p.m. on April 14, 2016. The exhibition was organized jointly by the Hungarian National Museum and National Széchényi Library.

Hence and Beyond the River Danube… – exhibition

Jewish Manuscripts and Ceremonial Objects – exhibition opening ceremony

The exhibition presenting Jewish literacy is part of the BudapestArtWeek program series. The opening ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday April 19, 2016.

The map-making hussar officer

Hussar officer János Lipszky was born 250 years ago, on April 10, 1766. He was famous not so much for his military deeds as for what he had achieved in the field of Hungarian science and culture. Celebrating the 250th anniversary of János Lipszky’s birth, National Széchényi Library and the National Archives of Hungary organized a memorial exhibition.

Károly Escher exhibition in Király Street

Károly Escher, cameraman and outstanding photo artist of the era between the two world wars, died fifty years ago. His life was connected to Erzsébetváros, the 7th District of Budapest in more ways than one. On April 6, 2016 an exhibition will be opened in K11 Art and Cultural Center, where his photos borrowed from the Photo Collection of National Széchényi Library will be exhibited.

General map of the Kingdom of Hungary, 1804-1810

American Hungarian Foundation is 60 years old – conference

Topics of the conference to be held from 10 a.m. on Monday April 18, 2016 include the results and significance of AHF, the database made from the records of US receiving center hosting the Hungarian refugees of 1956, as well as Mikes Kelemen and Kőrösi Csoma programs.

Beautiful Hungarian Map 2015 – exhibition

An exhibition compiled from the most beautiful maps of 2015 will be open between April 1 and April 30, 2016. This year a total amount of 29 maps entered the ”Beautiful Hungarian Map 2015” competition, two of which were published in a digital form. The majority of competing cartographic works serve tourist purposes, presenting mainly the natural and historical values of Hungary.

Judit Hajnal Ward: Open Library – book presentation

Studies and essays included the book entitled “Open Library” aim at presenting the contemporary work and diversity of libraries to the Hungarian audience, based on American examples. Most of the experiences of the author living in the United States are valid on an international level. Book presentation will begin at 3 p.m. on April 4, 2016.
