The Exhibition of Young Writers was opened on March 8, 2016, at 4 p.m. in National Széchényi Library. At the exhibition, where talented young writers and poets are presented through their works, portraits, CVs, publication lists, visitors also have the opportunity to look at the original manuscripts of young authors.

On March 10, at 5 p.m., we are going to screen new films from the works which were presented at the Hungarian Pavilion of Expo Milano 2015. Hope and Myth is a documentary, coming in two parts, presenting the life path of charismatic poet-film director Imre Gyöngyössy. After that, we will screen a documentary made of the recollections of Zoltán Peskó.

On March 10, 2016, we present a recently published book written by Farkas Gábor Farkas, Head of the Early Printed Books Collection of NSZL. The title of the book is Régi könyvek, új kalandok. 12 történet a könyvtárak mélyéről (Old books, new adventures. 12 stories from the depth of libraries).

In cooperation of the German Embassy in Budapest and National Széchényi Library, a bilingual album entitled Germanico-Hungarica, Album mit Schätzen aus der Sammlung Alter Drucke, Album a Régi Nyomtatványok Tára kincseiből (Album from the Treasures of the Early Printed Books Collection) was published recently.

The Exhibition of Young Writers will be opened on March 8, 2016, at 4 p.m. in National Széchényi Library where manuscripts of talented young writers and poets will be presented. The material of the exhibition will be auctioned on April 12 and all the revenues will go to the authors. The aim of the program series is to pave the way for civil patronage, in order to create a new source of funding for the generation of young writers.

Between April 19 and 24, 2016, National Széchényi Library will join BudapestArtWeek fine arts festival which will be held for the very first time. Our Library will join the series of programs with an exhibition entitled Jewish Manuscripts and Ceremonial Objects.

A new periodical entitled Földtani kutatás (Geological Research) was added to the Electronic Periodical Archive & Database (EPA). The archive has been created jointly by NSZL, the Hungarian Office for Mining and Geology and the Hungarian Geological Society. The entire content of EPA can be accessed free of charge.

For three years now, NSZL staff has been participating in Mikes Kelemen Program organized by the State Secretariat for Hungarian Communities Abroad of the Prime Minister’s Office. Documents arriving from overseas in Hungary have been stored and systemized. Until the end of 2015, some 72 m³, approximately 55–60,000 documents have arrived in Budapest.

On February 17, 2016, Dr. László Tüske, Director-General of National Széchényi Library visited the Rare Book Room and Collection at the National Central Library of Taiwan. He was also invited to speak on The Role and Tasks of an East-Central European National Library in the 21st century.
