In the first quarter of 2016, National Széchényi Library will organize a free series of screenings of films which were presented at the Hungarian Pavilion of Expo Milano 2015. The organizers of Expo Milano aimed at putting the culture of the exhibiting countries in the spotlight by providing a reason and opportunity to make these films.

Putting into storage of current, batch-processed small prints published between 1951 and 2014 has come to an end in the Collection of Posters and Small Prints. As a result, from now on the collection can be retrieved and searched.

Led by Dr. Aurelius Augustinus den Hollander (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), PhD students paid a visit to National Széchényi Library. The students participating in the “COST Action IS1301 training school” program delivered and listened to lectures on the topic of “Crossing borders. The transmission of religious texts and the migration of scholars in late medieval and early modern Europe”.

National Széchényi Library will be closed between December 24, 2015 and January 4, 2016. During this period, no visitors will be accepted at our temporary exhibitions either.

Entitled “Memories of my life”, an exhibition presenting the career of Karl Goldmark (1830–1915) will be opened in the Music Collection of National Széchényi Library on December 8, 2015, at 3 p.m., to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the composer’s death.
